Kevin was born on the South Side of Chicago as the fifth of six children. At an early age, he witnessed extremely hard financial times in his family as his father worked two jobs and his mother stayed home to raise the children. As a boy, Kevin admired how hard his parents worked to make ends meet, and wanted to ease the financial stress his family was under. At the ripe age of 9 years old he started his first business as a shoe-shiner with nothing more than an old wooden cigar box with a piece of wood attached as a shoe-rest, and a few colors of shoe polish.
In his early 20’s, Kevin left the familiar streets of South Side Chicago and came to Orange County to train as a plumber and HVAC technician. Shortly after starting his first plumbing and HVAC company, Kevin recalls experiencing a major problem his homeowners were having. Kevin has said, “After a few years in business, I realized I couldn’t deliver quality service with top-notch technicians at a low price. I noticed throughout my career that my customers were spending a lot of money on repairing things after they broke, often costing them more because of water damage or neglect. I thought that fixing these small problems before they become big problems solved my dilemma. I can be the best and guard my customers’ wallets by identifying the issues sooner rather than later. So that’s why at Kalka Plumbing Heating and Air, our motto is “Our Mission Is Maintenance.” Kevin Kalka has been successfully serving Orange County homeowners for more than 30 years.
